Russia, China veto extending cross-border aid to Syria July 08, 2020

ISLAMABAD-Russia and China have vetoed a UN Security Council (UNSC) resolution to extend authorization for cross-border humanitarian aid in Syria for a year.

Germany and Belgium, two of the council's non-permanent members, had drafted the resolution.

During negotiations, Russia proposed that the extension be limited to six months rather than a year, and that it only be allowed at one border crossing instead of two.
