Sheikh Hasina sworn in as Bangladesh Prime Minister

In Bangladesh, Awami League chief Sheikh Hasina was sworn in as prime minister for the fourth term today after her victory in the elections.

Ruling Awami League party and its allies won the December 30 elections by a landslide, securing 288 seats in the 300-seat parliament compared to just seven for the main opposition. Mass arrests of opposition activists and candidates took place during the campaign.
