Govt to make province pollution-free, PA informed

The Punjab government will make the province pollution-free with the collaboration of industrial sector.

This was stated by Provincial Minister for Forestry, Sibtain Khan during the Question Hour at the Punjab Assembly in Lahore today.

Answering the questions of lawmakers, he said that eight environmental laboratories are working in Multan, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Rahim Yar Khan .

He said that government has put a ban on burning of the crop residues and two-stroke rickshaws in order control the smog.

The Minister said Punjab Environmental Protection Act 1997 had already been enacted to control air pollution.

Punjab Assembly's session has been adjourned without addressing the scheduled business due to lack of quorum, the House will now meet on Monday at 1500 Hours
