Sindh Government did not extend the Rangers stay in Karachi till midnight December 5

KARACHI: The Special Powers of Rangers in Karachi have expired at midnight December 5. The summary for the extension of Rangers Power has been sent to Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah. However, the summary was not approved by the CM Sindh. As per sources, Provincial Interior Ministry did not send extension summary to CM Sindh. It will be sent within three to four days for approval. The paramilitary force enjoys special powers that allow them to conduct raids, detain and interrogate suspects for up to 120 days. According to the previous extension granted in August of this year the powers will expire at midnight tonight (Saturday). It is important to mention here that Rangers have played very important role to bring peace in Karachi and a number of target killers have been arrested by Rangers with their special powers.
