IHC struck down Prevention of Electronic Crimes Ordinance 2022 with inquiry against FIA officers

*The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has struck down the Prevention of Electronic Crimes (amendment) Ordinance, 2022 , declaring it unconstitutional. *
The court also order the secretary interior to complete the investigation against the officer of Cyber Wing of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) who have accused of misusing their powers within 30 days.
The government could not present any reasonable argument for introducing such an ordinance.
Freedom of expression is a basic human right and under the constitution, it is important to protect the rights of citizen.
Pakistan Federal Union Journalist along with other petitioners had challenged the ordinance in the court.
Earlier, the court came down hard on the FIA during the hearing of applications against the Prevention of Electronic Crimes (amendment) Ordinance, 2022.
