ISLAMABAD – Afghan Taliban break silence over last round of historic peacetalks with United States.
The political office of Taliban has reported ‘good progress’ in recent Dohatalks between the Taliban leaders, U.S. and Qatari officials.
Suhail Shaheen, a spokesman for the political office of Taliban in Qatarsaid in a Twitter post that the political delegation of Taliban had meetingwith the U.S. representatives until 2:30 am on Friday, Khaama Press hasreported.
Shaheen further added that Mullah Ghani Baradar also met with AmbassadorZalmay Khalilzad, Gen. Scott Miller and foreign minister of Qatar on Friday.
Furthermore, Shaheen said the both the meetings made ‘good progress’ butdid not elaborate further.
Ambassador Khalilzad left for Doha after concluding talks with the Afghanleaders in Kabul earlier this week.
He also shared the draft U.S.-Taliban deal with the Afghan leaders duringhis trip to Kabul.
