KABUL – Strategic district of* Tala Wa Barfak in Baghlan province, north ofAfghanistan, has been under siege by militants since Tuesday morning.*
Tala Wa Barfak district governor Ismail Barfaki told TOLOnews that roads tothe district were closed as militants attacked different routes to thecenter on Tuesday.
He said the fighting is ongoing between government forces and the Taliban.
According to him, three police force members were wounded in the battle.
The district governor said dozens of Taliban fighters have come fromSamangan, Kunduz and Baghlan provinces to fight government forces in thearea.
He added that reinforcement troops are 20km from other government forces,but their route is blocked to help their comrades.
Tala Wa Barfak is deemed a key district in Baghlan which shares a borderwith Bamiyan and Parwan provinces. Taliban has not commented on the reportso far.
