Mohsin Dawar, the leader of the National Democratic Movement and former chairman of the Foreign Affairs Standing Committee, has made some noteworthy claims regarding the investigation into the murder of ARY News anchorperson and esteemed journalist, Arshad Sharif.
According to Dawar, a series of delaying tactics were employed to obstruct the National Assembly Committee from receiving a briefing on the tragic incident.
In a startling revelation, Mohsin Dawar shed light on the Arshad Sharif murder case, alleging that the former speaker of the national assembly actively thwarted attempts to convene a meeting aimed at briefing the committee about the journalist's murder. It's particularly concerning that committee meetings were convened three times, only to be adjourned prematurely each time.
Dawar further disclosed that during one of these meetings, the head of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) refused to provide the committee with information regarding Arshad Sharif's murder, insisting on the presence of other JIT members.
Additionally, the foreign minister seemed to wash his hands of the matter, declaring it to fall under the jurisdiction of the interior ministry. These revelations raise significant questions about the transparency and progress of the investigation.
Meanwhile, Kenyan investigative journalist Brian Obuya expressed his concern over the prolonged delay in the probe findings related to the murder of Arshad Sharif.
Obuya criticized the extensive time taken for the investigation and the absence of any published reports or the disclosure of the names of the accused Kenyan policemen involved in the case. This further underscores the need for a thorough and expeditious resolution to the Arshad Sharif murder case to ensure justice for the slain journalist and his family.
