Good news for Babar Azam fans

Babar Azam, the prolific right-hander from Pakistan, is set to make his return to the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) for the first time since 2017. He has been signed by Rangpur Riders, and the franchise chose a unique way to announce this signing on their social media platforms.

In a post on their official Facebook account, Rangpur Riders shared the news with their fans, saying, "We are here with another surprise after signing the world's No. 1 all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan in the fight for victory! Dear Rangpur Riders fans, guess who is going to be the new rider by matching the information given in the picture, and share your opinion in the comments."

When Babar last participated in the BPL, he played for Sylhet Sixers. The announcement post included an image titled 'Guess the rider,' providing hints such as 'he made his ODI debut in 2015,' 'He's the first player to score more than 5000 runs in his first 100 ODI innings,' and 'He's the captain of currently ranked world's no. 1 ODI team,' which immediately confirmed that Azam had joined the team.

It's worth noting that Pakistan pacer Ihsanullah will also be part of the Rangpur Riders for the 2024 edition of BPL. Recently, Babar Azam achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the fastest captain to reach 2000 ODI runs in just 31 innings, breaking the previous record held by Kohli, who achieved this in 36 innings. This milestone was accomplished during the Pakistan vs. Bangladesh match in the Asia Cup 2023 at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium.

Since his debut against Zimbabwe in 2015, Azam has transformed the fortunes of Pakistan cricket. The team, once plagued by batting failures, has now become a match-winning outfit. Azam's leadership not only propelled Pakistan to the number one ranking in ODIs but also saw him consistently excel with the bat, breaking several records along the way, with more milestones yet to be achieved.
