NAB Executive Board approves four references against Sharif family

ISLAMABAD: The Executive Board of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has approved filing of reference against Sharif family and former finance minister Ishaq Dar, Samaa reported Thursday.

According to our correspondent, three references will be filed in Accountably Court on Friday against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, his three children – Hassan Nawaz, Hussain Nawaz and Maryam Nawaz – and Nawaz Sharif’s son-in-law Captain Safdar.

The references are related to 16 offshore companies, Azizia Steel Mills, Hill Metal Establishment, and the Avenfield flats in London.

The reference against Ishaq Dar is related to possession of assets beyond means.

The decision to file the references in the light of Supreme Court’s order was taken at a meeting of NAB’s Executive Board presided over by NAB chief Qamar Zaman Chaudhry in Islamabad earlier today.

The references – two of which were prepared in Lahore and two in Rawalpindi – were forwarded to the NAB Executive Board on Friday for approval along with an investigative report and supporting documents, reports said.

In the references, the NAB has requested the court to freeze assets of the accused and put their names on the Exit Control List, according to sources.
