Air Force day being observed across country with full zeal

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Air Force day is being observed across the country today. The force played a key role during Indo-Pak War of 1965.
Pakistan Air Force celebrates September 7 as the PAF Day to pay tribute to the martyrs of PAF that played a key role in defending the country in the 1965 war.
Special ceremonies are being held at all bases of PAF to pay homage to martyrs who laid down their lives defending the country.
A special prayer wasbe held for eternal peace of the martyrs while tribute messages will read out to the brave troops of the Air Force.
The national flag was hoisted and all ranks in the Pakistan Air Force troops also performed the salutation ritual.
The notable hero of PAF during 1965 War was Squadron Leader Muhammad Mahmmod Alam (M.M Alam) who shoot down five Indian Air Force Hawker Hunter Mk. 56 fighters in less than a minute, four being in first 30 seconds and became one of the few aviators who became ace in a day and the only jet age ace in a day. M.M Alam was awarded with Sitare-e-Jurat and Bar for his actions.
On the other hand, a wreath laying ceremonies was held in Karachi at the grave of Rashid Minhas who was awarded Nishan-e-Haider.
Air Vice Marshal Haseeb Paracha paid a visit to the mausoleum of Rashid Minhas offered fateha and laid floral wreath.
Minhas was decorated with Nishan-e-Haider for not letting his defector instructor, Flt Lt Matiur Rahman, fly to India with state secrets and an in-service air force official.
