FIA launches massive countrywide crackdown

The Karachi Zone of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has launched a crackdown against individuals involved in hawala transactions, resulting in the arrest of 64 suspects.
According to reports, a crackdown on illegal currency exchange and hawala transactions involved 64 individuals in total, who were apprehended. This operation led to the recovery of more than PKR 73 crore and USD 418,634 in foreign currency.
The FIA Karachi Zone conducted 42 raids against individuals involved in illegal currency exchange and hawala transactions, filing 35 cases, which resulted in the arrest of these 64 suspects. The recovered foreign currency includes USD 418,634 and more than PKR 143 million in Pakistani currency.
The suspects were engaged in hawala transactions without licenses and were also involved in various businesses. It's important to note that the FIA operations are ongoing nationwide.
A weekly report of these operations has been submitted to the Ministry of Interior. During the last six weeks, 172 raids were conducted, leading to the filing of 170 cases. The total amount recovered during these operations includes USD 278,000 and PKR 120 million in foreign currency.
The suspects were arrested from different zones across the country, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, Islamabad, and Karachi.
