Supreme Court disqualifies PML-N MPA  

ISLAMABAD: (APP) The Supreme Court on Friday maintained Election Tribunal verdict and disqualified Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Rashida Yaqoob over concealing her assets and ordered re-election in PP-78 Jahng.

The verdict, reserved on March 4 was read by Justice Dost Muhammad Khan over four petitions filed by Rashida Yaqoob against her disqualification by the Election Tribunal. The apex court in its order dismissed her all four petitions and ordered re-election in the constituency.

It is to mention that Rashida Yaqoob had won the general election 2013. Her opponent candidate Ahmed Ludhianvi of Ahl e Sunnat Wal Jamat had challenged her success before the Election Tribunal and alleged that she had concealed her assets at the time of filing of nomination papers.

The Election Tribunal (ET) disqualified Rashida Yaqoob.

Later, she filed petition against the ET verdict in SC which was dismissed by the apex court.
