Lahore: In Punjab, it has been announced to observe a holiday from Thursday to Sunday due to the worst air pollution conditions caused by smog.
According to details, a meeting of the Punjab cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, was held, in which the Punjab government decided to grant a holiday from Thursday to Sunday due to the worst air pollution conditions in the province. The Punjab government stated that from Thursday to Sunday, government schools and offices will be closed, and schools, colleges, offices, restaurants, and markets will also remain closed.
The Chief Minister of Punjab will announce the government's policy shortly. It should be noted that Lahore is currently experiencing air pollution; however, after a decrease in the rate of air pollution, the Air Quality Index has dropped below 400.
The city's overall Air Quality Index is recorded at 313, according to AQI records. Following a decrease in the air pollution rate, Lahore now ranks second among the most polluted cities in the world. Citizens have been instructed by experts to wear masks.
