Good News for the Pakistani government employees

After receiving approval from President Dr. Arif Alvi, the federal government of Pakistan has taken a significant step to address the escalating inflation by raising the minimum wages for employees.

As per a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance and Revenue, the minimum wage in Pakistan has been increased to Rs32,000 per month, effective from July 1, 2023. This decision applies to all federal civil servants, ensuring they receive a minimum monthly salary of Rs32,000.

Furthermore, government employees who currently earn less than this newly established minimum wage will receive a special allowance to bridge the income gap, providing them with some relief from the economic challenges posed by rising inflation.

This announcement comes as part of a broader effort by the government to improve the financial well-being of government employees. In November, government workers saw a significant pay hike, with revised salaries for various employment categories.

Under these revisions, the minimum salary for MP-1 2017 employees increased to Rs532,000, representing a raise of Rs33,000. Similarly, MP-1 2023 employees witnessed a salary increase of Rs47,850, reaching Rs772,000.

For MP-2 2017 employees, the salary was raised by Rs27,225, bringing it to Rs290,000, while MP-2 2023 employees now receive a salary of Rs421,000.

Additionally, the salaries of MP-3 2017 officers were increased to Rs181,500, and MP-3 2023 officers now earn Rs263,000.

These adjustments in salaries signify the federal government's commitment to addressing the economic challenges faced by the workforce, particularly in light of the ongoing inflationary pressures in the country.
