CM Pervaiz Khattak gives final deadline for RBT Peshawar completion

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Perveez Khattak has said that the Chief Executive Officer deliberately delay work on Bus Rapid Transit Service (BRT) and due to the delay the project will take two more months for the completion.

This he said on Sunday at Arbab Niaz Stadium Peshawar while talking to Media. The CM said that he directed and advice many time to the CEO to speedy the work on the project but he was delay again and again work on the project, adding that because of the delay the Buses will arrive late for the project and because of that the project will be completed in eight months.

He further added that in Pubjab for the structure of BRT Rs. 29 billion rupees has been spend while for Peshawar BRT service Rs. 29 billion has spending on the project, adding that Six billion rupees has been allocated for the Buses to be purchased for the project while seven billion rupees has been allocated to be constructed Parking Plaza for the project.

Perveez Khattak said that for the last two years they were waiting for the land of Railway but the Federal government were play delay tactics with the provincial government for the last two years while two years has been surfed for taking money from Asian Development Bank.

He further added that the project was to be completed in six month but because of the CEO and other hurdles including the Railway refuse to not give land to the provincial government now the project will be completed in eight months, adding that although two month will further take time on the project but eight month is also a record time to be completed such a mega project.

The Chief Minister defended the decision of sacking the CEO of Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit for failing to meet the deadline saying the concerned official ignored repeated reminders by the provincial authorities.
