Pakistan Ordinance Factory Wah: A rising star in defence production

ISLAMABAD: (APP) Pakistan Ordinance Factories (POF) Wah Cantt has secured the orders worth $ 81 billion during the financial year 2015-16.

Briefing National Assembly Standing Committee on Defence Production, Chairman POF said most of the products were exported the Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Tajikistan and Kenya, etc.

The meeting, chaired by MNA Khawaja Sohail Mansoor, was briefed on new commercial products produced by POF, Wah.

The committee was informed that 24,000 workers are working in different product categories in POF Wah including engineers and scientists.

Chairman POF stated that POF had injected Rs 19 billion in procurement of plant and machinery for production from its own earnings. A sum of Rs 6.5 billion has been paid to government in terms of taxes.

The committee appreciated the efforts made by POF Wah and hoped that POFs will play its vital role in defence of Pakistan.

The committee recommended that the powers of POF board should be restored, according to its ordinance.
