Luxembourg Foreign Minister offers mediation between Pakistan and India

*ISLAMABAD –Luxembourg Foreign Minister has offered mediation between Pakistan and India.*

* Luxembourg Foreign Minister (FM) Jean Asselbonr on Thursday praised the positive and effective role of Pakistan for peace establishment in the region, offering that his country was ready to mediate between the two countries.*

During a joint press conference with Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, FM Jean Asselborn said, “no one wants war between Pakistan and India” and offered to play a constructive role as mediator for peace between the arch rivals.

He also acknowledged Islamabad’s role in Afghanistan reconciliation process, saying that the Luxembourg government was in favour of an early resolution of the issue through dialogues between the Afghan government and Taliban.

Expressing concern over the recent escalation in tensions between India and Pakistan in the aftermath of the February 14 Pulwama attack, Asselborn said Luxembourg is desirous of peace and stability in the region and offered that his country was ready to mediate between the two countries.

Luxembourgian FM admired Prime Minister Imran Khan for his efforts in defusing tensions with India in the aftermath of the Pulwama incident and releasing captured Indian Air Force pilot Abhinandan Varthaman as a peace gesture. “No one wants war between Pakistan and India,” he said.
