DAMASCUS: UN envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura claimed that Syria peace talks would expect to begin on March 10.
He said “I see us beginning on March 10 when we will launch the process.”
He also said “Some will arrive on the 9th. Others, because of difficulties with hotel reservations, will arrive on 11th. Others will arrive on 14th.”
He said “We will hold preparatory meetings and then go into detail with each group separately.”
De Mistura attempted to hold peace talks in January which were failed.
He claimed that delay in peace talks was due to some logistical and technical reasons.
He also claimed that the truce and humanitarian aid in Syria is also a positive advantage which reduced violence in the country.
The ceasefire doesn’t include ISIS militants and al-Nusra group which is affiliated with al-Qaeda.
It will be the first round of indirect talks between Damascus and the opposition since a truce between rebels and government forces began more than a week ago.
The five year old Syrian civil war has killed more than 260,000 people and millions have been forced from their homes which created massive refugee crises for Lebanon, Turkey and the European Union.
