NAB raids residence of senior government officer, recovers atleast Rs 1 billion

*KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) team raided a residence of a senior Sindh Building Control Authority officer and seized valuables worth Rs 1 billion.*
According to NAB, the team carried out a search at the house of Mr. Adil Omer in Federal B. Area with a search warrant from judicial magistrate and found ample evidence in form of cash and other valuable that were apparently obtained by the officer without known sources of income.
The NAB spokesperson said during a search of his residence, several luxury vehicles and assets worth over a billion rupees were recovered that appeared to have been acquired from ill-gotten money accumulated through embezzlement of the national exchequer.
The suspect before assuming the post of SBCA deputy director-general has also served at other key positions in the authority.
The luxurious assets seized included a Mercedes C-Class of 2016 model worth Rs8 million, Toyota Premio worth Rs2.8 million, Suzuki Swift of 2014 model, documents of a land cruiser of 2014 model worth Rs22m, and cash and prize bonds amounting Rs5.5 million.
The officer, however, could not be arrested because he is currently on a interim bail from Sindh High Court.
