Electronic Voting is possible through off-line Biometric system: NADRA Chief

ISLAMABAD: NADRA Chairman Usman Mubeen said that electronic voting can be conducted through an off-line biometric system.
As per details, Federal Minister Zahid Hamid chaired a meeting of sub-committee of the parliamentary panel on electoral reforms. NADRA Chairman Usman Mubeen was also present in meeting.
Sub-Committee was briefed by NADRA Chairman over the biometric voting system. He said that the biometric verification of voters is possible through off-line system instead of on-line system.
While addressing the meeting, Zahid Hamid said that NADRA Chairman proposed to make a hardware security system for the verification of voters. Voter’s data will be preserved in relevant polling station in off-line system.
State Minister for IT, Election Commission and PTA officials will review the time and cost in developing the hardware security system. Hamid stated.
He further added that now the committee would begin the final review of a consolidated electoral law and rules, he said, expressing hope that the work would be completed soon.
