According to a press release issued by the US State Department Spokesperson Heather Nauert, Mike Pompeo commended President Ghani for his commitment to build a secure and prosperous future for his country.
He also expressed support for the Afghan military's defence of the city of Farah.
The two sides also discussed the strong partnership between the United States and Afghanistan in the fight against terrorism and Washington's support for an Afghan-led, Afghan-owned peace and reconciliation process.
