CPEC in safe hands, says Special Security Division Commandant

LAHORE: (APP) Commandant Special Security Division (SSD) Maj-Gen Abid Rafique called on Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and informed him about security arrangements evolved for China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.

The chief minister expressed satisfaction over excellent security arrangements made by the SSD. The two sides reiterated their resolve to ensure foolproof security for CPEC projects.

Speaking on the occasion, Shehbaz Sharif said that CPEC was proving to be a game-changer for Pakistan and China was making huge investment of $50 billion under CPEC. He said CPEC was our collective destination and it would benefit the whole nation.

He said that magnificent progress was being registered on CPEC due to collective measures of the political and military leadership. He said the SSD had taken measures in an effective manner for the security of CPEC and Commandant SSD Maj-Gen Abid Rafique and his team deserved praise and greetings.

He said that to achieve the objectives of CPEC, "we have to move forward with an excellent coordination".

He said all projects under CPEC were being completed speedily and the initiative had opened new avenues of investment in Pakistan. He said that the Punjab government had also established a Special Protection Unit for security of CPEC projects.

Speaking on the occasion, Maj-Gen Abid Rafique said the security of CPEC was in safe hands and "we are working jointly for completion of the projects".

Provincial Minister for Anti-Terrorism Col (R) Muhammad Ayub, Interior Secretary Maj (R) Azam Suleman, Additional Inspector General Operations Punjab Arif Nawaz, Brigadier Commander Special Security Division Brigadier Waseem, Brigadier Maqbool and senior civilian and military officials were also present on the occasion.
