Salman Shehbaz seeks protective bail from IHC

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has fixed Dec 8 (tomorrow) as the date for hearing the petition of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s son Suleman Shehbaz.

Suleman Shehbaz on Wednesday filed an application for a protective bail as he has decided to return to Pakistan for facing his cases.

The IHC Chief Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan will hold the hearing of the petition.

Salman Shehbaz, who was declared absconder in a money laundering case and staying in London, contended to IHC through his lawyer Amjad Parvez that he wanted to return home to face the cases against him and grant him protective bail for two weeks for appearing in court.

It is feared that he will be arrested on arrival in Islamabad, the petitioner added.

A court had declared Salman Shehbaz and Tahir Naqvi absconders in July this year in a money laundering case against them.

Pertinent to note that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had wrote a letter to the UK government to hand over Salman, who was wanted by the accountability watchdog under money laundering charges and Telegraphic Transfer scandal.

An accountability court in 2019 had also issued non-bailable warrants for the arrest of Salman in a money laundering case. He went abroad in 2018.
