Karachi: New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson might miss the matches against Pakistan as his partner Sarah Raheem is due to give birth in mid-to-late December.
The 30-year-old Williamson also confirmed it last Friday while talking to reporters. He said that he would make a decision on whether to miss matches closer to the time of the birth of his first child.
Meanwhile, Kiwis coach Gary Stead has said that the team has no concerns if he chooses to take paternity leave.
“Worst case scenario Kane misses some matches. As a dad, as a parent, you only get that opportunity once in your life to be there for your (first) child’s birth and I know that it’s important for Kane too,” Stead told reporters after New Zealand defeated West Indies by an innings and 134 runs in the first Test.
“At the end of the day we play cricket and other things are much more important and that is much more important,” he added.
