LHC orders vote recount in NA-73, stops Khawaja Asif’s victory notification

ISLAMABAD: The Lahore High Court has barred the ECP from issuing a notification declaring PML-N leader Khawaja Asif the winning candidate from NA-73 Sialkot.

The LHC also ordered the ECP to recount the votes in NA-73 on PTI candidate Usman Dar’s petition.

Dar’s lawyers, Tajammul Gondal and Anis Hashmi, told the court that the returning officer didn’t provide form-45 to their client and 7,346 votes were rejected in the election.

They told the court that Mr Dar had requested a recount of votes. However, his request was rejected by the officials.

Khawaja Asif had secured 117,002 votes, while Usman Dar got 115,596 votes. Dar was defeated by a margin of 1,406 votes.
