Former prime minister Imran Khan has said that any further delay in theelections will cause irreparable loss to the national economy.
He was speaking at a meeting of assembly members belonging to Sheikhupura,Kasur, and Nankana Sahib held here on Tuesday.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan presided over themeeting. PTI Punjab president Dr Yasmin Rashid, Provincial Minister SyedAli Abbas Shah, Provincial Minister Asif Nakai, MNA Sardar Talib Nakai, MNABrig (retd) Rahat Aman, MNA Sardar Amir Dogar, MPA Khurram Ijaz Chatta, andothers participated in the meeting.
In the meeting, consultations were held on the issue of dissolution of theassemblies and resignations. The participants assured Imran of their fullsupport for the dissolution of the provincial assembly.
The parliamentarians were taken into confidence regarding the road map ofthe upcoming general elections and the PTI protest drive in the meeting.
Imran Khan asked them to prepare for elections and begin campaigning intheir constituencies. “Whether the government come into elections or not,we will be dissolving the assemblies and move towards elections.”
He said that giving more time to the current government would be hard forthe country’s economy as the government had proved to be a complete failurein managing the economy.
The members opined that the only solution to the country’s problems istransparent and early elections. The dissolution of the Punjab and KhyberPakhtunkhwa assemblies is a major political decision and it should beimplemented in such a way that effective results can be seen, theyasserted.
