NEW DELHI – Indian Army responds over MS Dhoni insignia controversy withInternational Cricket Council.
Indian Army is staying away from the controversy over star cricketerMahendra Singh Dhoni and is unlikely to ask him to remove the logoresembling the insignia of the Para commando Special Forces from his wicketkeeping gloves, India today has reported.
Sources said the army won’t intervene in the matter and won’t take anyaction or even ask him to remove the symbol.
The army says that there is no need for any intervention since the symbolis not the real insignia but only bears a resemblance.
The special forces insignia is always in maroon background and has balidanwritten in Hindi. It’s always worn on the chest. The symbol on Dhoni’sgloves only resembles it, we can’t say it is the Special Forces insignia, said an army official.
A dagger similar to the one that is used in the insignia could be seen onDhoni’s gloves when India played South Africa in its opening match on June5, in the ongoing cricket World Cup.
