After losing 3,500 soldiers in Afghanistan, US Commander fears losing war is unacceptable

KABUL – *Commander of US and NATO forces in Afghanistan General JohnNicholson on Saturday said the fight against terror was the most importantfight in the world and losing it would be unacceptable. *

Nicholson made the remarks at a ceremony in Kabul where he praised foreignsoldiers wounded in action.

He said losing the fight against terror would be unacceptable andunimaginable.

According to Nicholson, the fight against terror was important forAfghanistan and for the future of humanity.

“This fight against terror is the most important fight in the world. Thecosts of failure are unimaginable. We must win, we must be successful. Notonly for the future of this country, but indeed for all ofhumanity’s sake,” Nicholson said.

Nicholson also touched on the Afghan government’s peace offer to theTaliban and said he welcomes the offer.

“Just earlier this year, we achieved a significant milestone that bothsides have put peace offers on the table. The Afghan government and theTaliban. We have never achieved this point in the war before,” he added.

Saturday’s ceremony was held in honor of foreign soldiers who have beenwounded in the Afghan war.

In the past 17 years, over 3,500 foreign soldiers have lost their lives andhundreds more have been wounded in Afghanistan.
