Pakistan takes a strong exception over UN confidential reports leakage in Indian media

ISLAMABAD – Foreign Office Spokesman Mohammed Faisal on Thursday said leaksin Indian media about a confidential UN Ombudsperson report on de-listingreinforced Pakistan’s concerns regarding India’s deliberate attempts topoliticize the UN’s counter-terrorism regime.

“Such leaks are neither new nor surprising,” the Spokesman told reportershere, adding that such attempts aimed at advancing India’s politicalagendas.

The Spokesman expressed hope that relevant UN Sanctions Committee wouldinvestigate such leaks and hold those responsible to account.

He said Pakistan had neither seen the report of the Ombudsperson nor itsfindings since it was a confidential document.

“We will respond to the report as and when it is made available to us,” hesaid.The Spokesman drew attention to the prescribed UN procedure for filinglisting and de-listing requests by individuals and entities.

“Every listed individual or entity is legally entitled to submit de-listingrequests directly with the UN Ombudsperson,” he said.
