ASADABAD: Three security people were killed and eight others wounded onSunday when Daesh militants stormed a security checkpoint in eastern Kunarprovince, an official said on Sunday, Pajhwok News has reported.

The casualties resulting from the Islamic State attacks in Sawakai districtincluded Afghan Local Police (ALP) personnel and public uprising members.

Abdul Ghani Musamam, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News themilitants conducted a coordinated attack on ALP check-posts in Dewa Gularea at around 6am.

He said reinforcements had been dispatched to the site, where a clash wasstill ongoing. However, the gubernatorial spokesman had no informationabout casualties.

Dr. Farooq Sahak, the Asadabad Civil Hospital director, said they hadreceived three bodies and eight injured men from the scene. ALP anduprising members were among the casualties, he added.
