Yasir Shah banned from playing cricket over drug use

DUBAI: Pakistan star leg spinning bowler Yasir Shah is facing the prospect of four year ban after failing an anti-doping test during the recent one day series against England.

Yasir Shah has been provisionally banned after he was charged by the ICC on Sunday with an anti doping rule violation after a urine sample was found to have traces of chlortalidone, a banned masking agent.

Shane Warne was the last high profile case when he failed a drug test at the 2003 World Cup and was banned for a year.

Shah has emerged over the last two years as the world’s leading spin bowlers. The leg spinner is no 4 in the world rankings and and took 15 wickets in the two Test victories over England in the UAE.
