Afghan Taliban capture government offices in strategic city after severe clashes with Security forces

KABUL - Afghan Taliban capture government offices in strategic city of Farah after severe clashes with Security forces, local residents have revealed to media.

Footage on social media shows that the Taliban has captured a number of government offices on the outskirts of Farah city.

Heavy clashes are ongoing between government forces and the Taliban on the outskirts of the city of Farah since Thursday night, local officials said on Friday.

Farah police spokesman Mohibullah Mohib said Taliban were pushed back after they attacked the city from three sides.

He said that clashes are ongoing in Bagh-e-Pul, Qala-e-Zaman, Chahar Bagh and Regi areas outside Farah city.

Mr. Mohib said that the Afghan forces are supported by the Air Force during their operations in which more than 30 Taliban fighters have been killed.

Members of Farah Provincial Council told TOLOnews that some parts on the outskirts of Farah city have fallen to the Taliban.

They said that the city will witness heavy clashes if reinforcements are not sent to the province.
