WASHINGTON: The US Navy is re-establishing its second fleet, responsible for the northern Atlantic Ocean to counter Russia.
Chief of U.S. Naval Operations Admiral John Richardson said that the decision to re-establish the Second Fleet has been taken as the era of great power competition is back and the security environment continues to grow more challenging and complex.
The Pentagon also announced yesterday that it is offering to host a proposed NATO Joint Force Command at its naval facilities in Norfolk, Virginia. APP/AFP
