Power generation capacity enhancement greatest achievement of PMLN govt: Shehbaz

ISLAMABAD: PML President Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that enhancing power generation capacity by thousands of mega watts is the greatest achievement of PML(N) Government during last five years.
He was addressing a news conference in Lahore a short while ago.
He said that after passage of 18th amendment, dealing the power generation issue came under provinces' responsibility.
He said that several new power generation plants were installed during last five years, adding thousands of mega watts of electricity to the national grid. He said that five thousand mega watts of electricity is being generated by a few gas run new plants in Punjab alone, which were setup at a total cost of three hundred billion rupees.
He said that Punjab Government saved billions of rupees in setting up new power plants as well, by completing them before time, which is unprecedented in country's history.
He said that PML(N), if able to form government again after general elections, will build major dams to overcome water crisis.
To a question, he said that PML(N) is not responsible for ongoing load shedding at present.
He said that the second major achievement of PML(N) Government is to control the menace of terrorism and extremism. He paid rich tributes to the efforts and sacrifices rendered by armed forces, and law enforcement agencies during the war against terrorism, during the operations Zarb e Azb and Radd ul Fasaad.
He said that due to effective measures,backbone of terrorists and their facilitators have been broken and peace has been restored in the country especially Karachi.
