FIA summons top PTI leader in foreign funding case

PESHAWAR - The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Saturday summoned National Assembly former speaker Asad Qaisar in the prohibited funding case.

He has been directed to appear before the FIA Office, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at 2pm on August 11. A five-team of the FIA will hold an investigation under the Political Parties Act 2002. The FIA zonal committee will collect the details of the PTI assets.

Meanwhile, NA former speaker Asad Qaisar has denied receiving the FIA notice. He said that the PTI had conducted the funding in a legal way.

"The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has become a subsidiary institution of the PML-N. Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja damaged credibility of the institution. The PTI had submitted the record of 40,000 accounts in the ECP," he maintained.
