Pakistani skipper Babar Azam breaks yet another record of Indian skipper Kohli

Pakistan’s all-format captain, Babar Azam, has been the spine of the national team batting unit over the past few years, and he has managed to break several batting records ever since his debut in 2015. His latest century in the first ODI against South Africa was a landmark achievement as well. He became the quickest batsman in the history of ODIs to score 13 centuries, taking only 76 innings to achieve the feat. ------------------------------

His ability to stay on the crease and convert his starts into big scores is what makes him one of the best batsmen in the world. His conversion rate of turning half-centuries into centuries is currently the best in world cricket.

Babar’s fifty to hundred conversion rate is 44.82. He is closely followed by the English opening batsman, Jonny Bairstow, who has a conversion rate of 44.00.

Let’s have a look at the top 5: *Player* *100s* *Conversion Rate* Babar Azam 13 44.82 Jonny Bairstow 11 44.00 Virat Kohli 43 40.95 Hashim Amla 27 40.91 Rohit Sharma 29 40.28 ------------------------------

Babar is already third on the list of most ODI centuries by Pakistanis. He is only two centuries behind second-placed Mohammad Yousuf, who scored 15 ODI centuries in his career. Former opening batsman, Saeed Anwar, leads the charts with 20 centuries to his name.

Babar will be looking to add to his tally of centuries in the third ODI against South Africa. If Babar does manage to score it, he will become the new number one ODI batsman in the world, surpassing the Indian captain, Virat Kohli, who has held the position since 2017.
