Minor girl jumps from fourth floor of building in India to avoid Rape

MUMBAI: A 12-year-old girl jumped from the fourth floor of a building in Mumbai while trying to save herself from molestation by a 35-year-old man. The incident took place when the man approached the girl while she was walking by the Nalasopara area in Alkapuri on 3 April.

The man spoke to her on the pretext of asking for an address. After she told him the address, the man started talking to her and convinced her to go with him to the terrace of the building. The man misbehaved with her on the terrace. Afraid by the him, the girl jumped off the building.

In a video accessed by Zee News, the girl can be seen jumping off the building. The girl has been severely injured and has got a fracture. She has been admitted to the Nair hospital for treatment.

The accused has not yet been identified but police are claiming that the probe is underway. Police are waiting for the girl to regain consciousness to carry forward the probe.

The reports of this incident come on a day when another video has surfaced where a woman can be seen being molested and beaten up onboard a local train Mumbai. The incident took place on the Dadar-Kurla local train on Thursday night. The guard was present nearby when the incident happened. The video was shot by a co-passenger in which it can be seen that the man is trying to overpower the woman while she is trying to fight back.

The incidents have yet again brought to focus the rising concerns over the safety of women in Mumbai and across India.
