Indian Defence Ministry website hacked

NEW DELHI: The official website of India’s ministry of defence has been hacked, Indian media reported.
The website is currently offline and Chinese characters are appearing on its home page.
The Defence Ministry tweeted, "Issue with the MoD website has been taken note of. Appropriate action has been initiated."
Indian Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has confirmed hacking of the website, saying it will be restored shortly.
She tweeted “Action is initiated after the hacking of MoD website. The website shall be restored shortly. Needless to say, every possible step required to prevent any such eventuality in the future will be taken.”
