RAWALPINDI – Investigation into Jamiat Ulema Islam-Sami (JUI-S) chiefMaulana Samiul Haq’s assassination was being conducted speedily.
State Minister for Interior Shaharyar Afridi while speaking to media inNowshera said, “I do not want to divulge anything for the investigation notto get compromised.”
Afridi said he will present a report about Haq’s murder to the primeminister on Tuesday, and the individuals involved in it would be brought tojustice.
Vowing to present the murderers before the nation, he said the primeminister has directed for the inclusion of all stake-holders in theinvestigation.
“Maulana Samiul Haq was a great personality and his role in seminaryreforms in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was exemplary,” the minister said.
On the other hand, Rawalpindi police is yet to a find a clue about Haq’smurderers, despite having obtained CCTV footage of the vicinity.
Haq, an influential religious scholar and former senator, was stabbed todeath at his residence in Rawalpindi on Friday. His son had said that theJUI-S chief’s “driver-cum-guard went out for 15 minutes” and returned tofind him dead.
On Saturday, a probe was launched into Maulana Samiul Haq’s assassinationas forensic experts and investigation officers collected evidence from hisRawalpindi residence.
Police took Maulana Samiul Haq’s two domestic staff members into custodyfor questioning.
The staff workers told police that two men visited the JUI-S chief beforehis assassination.
