LAHORE – Former opposition leader in the National Assembly Khursheed Shahrejected the verdict of Avenfield reference against Sharif family announcedby accountability judge Muhammad Bashir.

Shah expressed that the timing of the verdict was wrong, adding that theverdict would benefit Nawaz Sharif.

“Announcing the verdict so close to the general elections can have multiplemeanings,” he said.

According to the Pakistan Peoples Party leader, the verdict should havebeen announced three months before.

Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rasheed remarked that a political bigwighas been sentenced for the first time in Pakistan’s history.

“There is no doubt that Maryam Nawaz forged the signature in the PanamaPapers case. The documents were forged,” he claimed.

Rasheed remarked that Nawaz Sharif wants the people to come out on theroads. “They expect those people to come out to whom they didn’t evenprovide basic facilities,” he said.

However, he added that all the guilty persons haven’t been punished, adding“the story of Model Town cruelty is still left.”
