JuD Chief Hafiz Saeed sent Rs 10 crore defamation notice to Defence Minister

LAHORE – Jamaatud Dawa (JuD) on Friday sent a Rs100 million defamationnotice to Federal Defence Minister Khurram Dastgir over his misleadingstatement that the action against the banned organisation was a part ofoperation Raddul Fasaad.

The notice, served by Advocate AK Dogar, on behalf of JUD chief HafizSaeed, under Section 8 of the Defamation Ordinance of 2002, the ministerhas been asked to tender an apology in writing within 14 days, or facelitigation.

Following the ban on JuD charity activities, Dastgir had said: “The actionsagainst JuD were linked to ongoing Operation Raddul Fasaad and not takendue to mounting pressure from the US and action is being taken that‘terrorists cannot open fire on school children anymore’.”

Meanwhile, Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, in a Friday sermon, said that the nationshould reject the US aid with dignity and self-esteem. “If we stand on ourfeet, our economic issues will be solved.”

“Today, Trump says that the US has given aid to Pakistan for 16 years butit was duped in return. We say, you were made ‘fool’ so long and you arestill the same. America wanted to stabilise its occupation over Afghanistanbut it was defeated in the region,” he opined.

Earlier, the government has banned companies and individuals from makingdonations to the JuD, the FIF and other organisations on the UN SecurityCouncil sanctions list.

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) issued anotification prohibiting the collection of donations by the JuD, the frontorganisation of banned terror outfit Lashkar–e–Taiba, as well as severalother such organisations named in a list of banned outfits by the UNSecurity Council.
