ISLAMABAD - PIA Employees Union has threatened to lock down the headquarters if Musharraf Rasool Cyan’s team member is appointed as the acting CEO.
We will lock down PIA Headquarter if the acting CEO was chosen from Cyan’s remnants.
The Union leaders claim that they have reliable sources confirming that the Board of Directors is considering Asma Bajwa or Bilal Munir Sheikh for the position, however, as per the Supreme Court’s orders, all team members of Cyan have been accused.
Senior Staff Association (SSA) President Safdar Anjum said:
We have filed petition against appointment of Musharraf Rasool Cyan, former CEO, Bilal Munir Sheikh, Chief Finance Officer (CFO), Zia Qadir Qreshi Chief Operating Officer (COO), Asma Bajwa Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) and Rana Kashif Chief System Officer (CSO).
A meeting of BoD took place on Tuesday to decide on the acting CEO, however, no decision has been made til now. The threat to stop flight operations would make the BoD rethink about the appointment.
In a meeting held in the head office, PIA has given the additional charge of Chairman to Aviation Secretary Muhammad Saqib Aziz.
The national carrier’s CEO was removed following the apex court’s order. The position of PIA Chairman was also up for grab for the past week or so as Ijaz Munir, who was PIA Chairman, was moved to the Establishment Division recently. He is currently serving as the Secretary of Establishment Division.
The decision was taken by the Board of Directors – 10 members – during a meeting at the head office, finding Saqib fit for the job.
