Digital Library launched by SAU  

TANDOJAM: (APP) Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) Tandojam has launched a well-equipped digital library on Monday to promote agriculture and economics education by facilitating students of the university.

Initially, the library has more than 140,000 books available on the specific subjects. It will be accessible to more than 7000 students, studying in 35 different departments of the university.

Sindh Agriculture University Vice Chancellor, Dr. Mujeebuddin Sehrai in his inaugural speech linked the hope that students, who otherwise face problems to purchase valuable books, will have access to visit library to get benefit.

The library will also have print facility for students to have hard copies if they need as reference material. Earlier, it was observed that a large number of students faced difficulties to complete their assigned tasks of writing dissertation and research reports. But now this library will remove all hurdles and provide facilities.

The library will be updated from manual to computerized with proper computer lab.

Earlier, library focal person Prof Bachal Bhutto gave detailed presentation about the digital library system with well-equipped computer lab and conducive environment. All the thesis of teaching faculty members, who had completed their PhDs from abroad and at university level will also be put on display for students reference to get benefit.

Portion dedicated to great poet of generations Shaikh Ayaz in which more than 6000 books will be available in creative literature and other subjects. The books will be available in languages like English, Urdu, Sindhi, Seraiki and Persian. This initiative will benefit to the people, who need reference and want to visit the library.

He said they have future plan to extend the reading system as per need with adaptation of library management system at SAU.

Dr Ibrahim Keerio, chairman Library Committee and library in-charge Rasheed Abbasi also spoke on the occasion.
