Azadi Train: A 4,000 km journey from Islamabad to Karachi

KARACHI (APP): Azadi Train by Ministry of Railways started its journey from Margala Station, Islamabad on August 11 and finally reached Karachi after completing 4,000 km of journey.
The Azadi Train covered all four provinces and reached Karachi on September 4.
The Azadi Train after travelling through all four provinces of the country reached Karachi on Sunday night.
Sindh Governor Dr. Ishratul Ebad and a large number of people warmly welcomed the train which culminated its 4000 kilometers journey at the Cantt. Station here.
Director General National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Sindh Lt-Col (retd) Siraj-ul-Naeem and Divisional Superintendent of Pakistan Railways Sindh Nisar Ahmed Memon were also present.
An impressive fireworks demonstration was staged on the arrival of the train, which contains the coaches representing the culture and traditions of all the four provinces, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The Sindh Governor visited different bogies of the train and took keen interest in the exhibits.
Speaking on the occasion as a chief guest, Sindh Governor Dr. Ishratul Ebad Khan said that the Azadi Train is a beautiful combination of the cultures and traditions of different provinces and national unity and harmony.
He said that the Azadi Train received very warm welcome during its journey across the country including Karachi, which reflects people's love and patriotism with Pakistan.
The Governor said that this special train's initiative will promote awareness about the struggle for the creation of Pakistan and provide details about important projects such as China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and other schemes of national significance.
Dr. Ishratul Ebad appreciated the efforts of Pakistan Railways and other relevant institutions for the success of Azadi Train initiative.
The train will remain stationed at Karachi for two days for exhibition. Various programmes will also be organised during this time.
The Azadi Train had started its journey from Margalla Railway Station Islamabad on August 11. Its six coaches represent the culture and traditions of all the four provinces, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, while six other coaches relate to the Pakistan Movement, Kashmir struggle, services and sacrifices of Armed Forces, exhibits about different important projects and the history of Pakistan Railways.
