FBR takes final decision over introduction of new taxes

A meeting was held under the supervision of the Caretaker Finance Minister, Dr. Shamsad Akhtar, to discuss the country's economic situation.
The Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) provided a briefing to the Treasury with board members.
According to sources, the Chairman of the FBR briefed on measures to curb smuggling and also discussed revenue collection. Amjad Zubair stated that there is no proposal currently under consideration to impose new taxes, emphasizing that the imposition of taxes on agriculture is the prerogative of the provinces.
The Chairman of the FBR further explained that they are currently collecting taxes in line with the set targets and that there is no proposal under consideration at the moment to impose taxes on shops or businesses.
