Islamabad: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has issued a notification announcing an increase in electricity prices.
According to the notification issued by NEPRA, electricity has become more expensive by Rs. 0.71 per unit due to the monthly fuel adjustment for August. The price increase will be effective in the October bills, and it will not apply to lifeline and K-electric consumers.
NEPRA had previously issued a notification on Monday to raise electricity prices under the three-month adjustment, raising the cost of electricity by Rs. 3.28 per unit. The price increase was implemented for electricity consumers across the country, including Karachi, resulting in an additional burden of approximately 16 billion rupees on consumers.
NEPRA had mentioned that additional surcharges would be collected from electricity consumers over a period of six months, with collections from consumers starting next month.
