Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has strongly refuted reports regarding an extension of the tenure of the Management Committee led by Zaka Ashraf.
The PCB addressed this issue by releasing a statement on Saturday. The statement clarified that the authority to appoint or expand the management committee rests with the Prime Minister, and a decision regarding this matter is expected in the near future.
Speculation had been widespread concerning the possible extension of Zaka Ashraf's term as the head of the committee, with suggestions that it might continue until the conclusion of the World Cup 2023.
Originally, the current interim management committee, under the leadership of Zaka Ashraf, was set to complete its term on November 5. However, the future of the PCB's administration has been clouded by uncertainty due to a series of prominent missteps that have drawn significant attention.
One such notable incident involved a press release that seemed to place blame on captain Babar Azam and selector Inzamam-ul-Haq, with the latter subsequently resigning.
Furthermore, a controversy arose around a leaked WhatsApp conversation between Babar Azam and a senior PCB official, further damaging the board's reputation.
