CM Punjab to inaugurate Head Marala hydro power project

SIALKOT: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar will inaugurate the newly established Head Marala Hydro Power Project near Head Marala-Sialkot here Monday.
According to senior officials of Sialkot irrigation department, the hydro power project had been established in Upper Chenab Canal (UCC) near Head Marala Barrage over River Chenab at a total cost of Rs 3.98 billion under the supervision of the Chinese engineers.
It has the total capacity of producing 7.64 mw electricity with four turbines of 1.9 megawatts capacity each, which were made functional after their successful tests conducted there under the joint supervision of Pakistani and Chinese engineers, the officials added.
This power producing plant was linked with the national grid which will generate 50.3 million units electricity annually.
