PM Imran Khan takes important decision over the Special Economic Zones across the country

Islamabad: PM Imran Khan takes important decision over the Special Economic Zones across the country .Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday approved establishment of economic zones across the country in order to facilitate the business community.

The premier gave approval while presiding over a meeting about setting up the zones in all the four provinces.

The government has given green signal for setting up two special zones in Bostan and Hub in Balochistan and Rashakai zone in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Special economic zones will be set up in Nowshera Feroze and Bholari in Sindh, while an approval has been granted for establishing the same in Punjab’s Bhalwal, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan and Virahi.

The premier was briefed that work on the construction of 12 zones in public sectors and six in private sector is underway.

It was revealed that during 2012-18 period only seven economic zones were established while the incumbent government has notified six new zones only in one year.

Expressing his views, the premier said that such measures will extend facilities to the business community, and vowed to develop and business friendly environment in the country.

The prime minister also issued directions for setting up a working group to introduce amicable rules and regulations for the economic zones.

Federal Planning Minister Asad Umar said that an economic growth strategy for Gilgit-Baltistan was being designed.
